Oakville -

Having run out of food faves to co-opt and destroy, (pizza, bagels, basically anything involving bread.) the Brazilian-owned restaurant chain rolled the dice and offered up an exotic, and potentially deadly treat, Pufferfish. “We thought Canadians would welcome the challenge! We were wrong.” Said a Horton’s executive on the condition of anonymity cleaning out his desk. Pufferfish is a delicacy in many parts of the world but it’s liver and ovaries contain a deadly neurotoxin called ‘Tetrodotoxin.’ Michelin Chefs are carefully trained to filet and cook the fish. “It’s always hindsight that gets ya! In retrospect, perhaps a 16 year-old drop out who hates their job isn't the right person to properly prepare this product. Hey are you heading downtown? I could use a lift.”
